DETAILS The scheme “Technical Internship Programme” has been implemented by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Digital India Corporation under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, which offers students a valuable platform to gain practical experience in a real-world, professional environment. By working on live projects and collaborating with experienced professionals, interns develop critical technical and problem-solving skills. Interest Areas & Number Of Interns For Technical Internship(Total Slots: 50): Sl. No. Role Role Description Slots Software Development 1 Java / PHP / Python / NodeJS / Dotnet • Develop or maintain modules in web-based applications using the latest technology. • Write RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services. • Debug and troubleshoot backend issues in existing systems/code. • Participate in code reviews and adhere to secure coding practices. • Development of study and best practices for highly scalable applications. 06 2 UI-UX Designer / Frontend Developer (Frontend Developer (React/ JavaScript / Angular / Typescript) • Standardisation of Government Website by using GIGW Compliance and Industry best practices. • Creative design by using Figma / other applications. • Design / Develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces using frontend technology. • Develop reusable components. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness. • Collaborate with backend teams for seamless API integration 06 3 Product Testing / Security Testing / Software Tester / Quality Analyst • Assist in conducting scans on web applications and servers using tools like Nessus, Nmap, or Burp Suite and prepare VAPT reports outlining risks and possible mitigation strategies. • Perform basic security testing of applications (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, broken authentication). • Write initial plan, test cases and test scripts for web and mobile applications. • Perform manual, automated testing and AI Bot testing using tools like Selenium or Postman. • Track bugs, report issues, and ensure software quality before deployment. • Participate in regression, performance, and security testing. 11 4 Database Programmer • Assist in managing and optimising databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. • Monitor database performance and ensure regular backups and recovery mechanisms. • Create and manage database schemas, indexes, access controls, and query optimisation. Support data migration, replication, and security practices. • Manage large databases and clustering 06 5 Business Analyst • Preparation of Documents, Translate project requirements into technical / non-technical documentation and user stories. • Conduct data analysis and create reports for internal departments. • Referring of SRS, FRS, etc. according to the core structure / development. Create flowcharts, wireframes, and documentation for project modules. 06 6 Data Engineering & Analytics • Assist in building or maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to collect and process data from various government portals and systems. • Work with SQL or NoSQL databases to clean, organize, and structure large datasets for analytics and reporting. • Create dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Python libraries to present insights to stakeholders. • Use Python, Shell scripts, or tools like Apache Airflow to automate repetitive data tasks and ensure timely data availability. • Assist in integrating data from multiple sources (APIs, CSVs, databases) into unified data repositories or data lakes for analysis. 05 7 Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Internet of Things • Work on AI-based modules for governance platforms (e.g., NLP for chatbots or document summarisation). • Develop chatbots (conversational RAG, agentic RAG, etc.) using GenAI models. • Data handling for knowledge base creation. • Perform feature engineering, model tuning, and validation for specific use cases. • Evaluate open-source AI tools or APIs for integration into applications. 05 8 DevOps, Automation and Infra Monitoring • Work on creating virtual machines, storage buckets, and configuring cloud services as per project requirements. • Learn and assist in CI/CD pipeline setup using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Linux and GitHub Actions. • Help automate build, test, and deployment workflows for faster and more reliable software delivery. • Support in environment configuration and containerization using Docker or Kubernetes. • Write scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks like deployments, backups, or server health checks. • Configure and monitor logs and performance metrics using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack. 05 Duration Of Technical Internship: The Technical Internship Scheme in NeGD will be conducted bi-annually i.e., - January Session and July Session. The duration of the Technical Internship will be fixed for six (06) months and will not be extended further. Stipend & Certificate For Technical Internship: A token stipend of ₹ 20,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his / her Mentor. NeGD will issue certificates to interns upon the satisfactory completion of the internship (six months), subject to certification by their Mentor. Regular attendance and satisfactory performance are a must for the stipend & certificate. ELIGIBILITY The applicant must be a resident of India. The applicant must be an Engineering Graduate or equivalent, with at least 75% marks in the qualifying degree. The applicant must be an Engineering Post–Graduate or equivalent, with at least 75% marks in the qualifying degree. The applicant must have passed their qualifying degree in the last two years, and in the current year. Students of the current year are eligible to apply for this technical internship scheme.
