Central Sector scheme of the Ministry of Tourism (launched 2014-15 as PRASAD, renamed PRASHAD in 2017) for integrated development of identified pilgrimage and spiritual-heritage destinations to provide a complete religious-tourism experience. The scheme is 100% centrally funded, providing financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations for tourism infrastructure at pre-identified pilgrimage/heritage sites — queue-management mandapams, public conveniences, ghat/kalyani upgradation, drinking water, illumination, parking, signage, sewage-treatment, pilgrim arrival centres and IT systems (CCTV, public address, digital signage). Destinations are proposed by State Governments, evaluated by the Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC) and sanctioned by the Ministry subject to fund availability; post-completion operation and maintenance rests with the State Government.
