The Sericulture wing of the Telangana Department of Horticulture supports mulberry and tasar farmers with production incentives, rearing-shed construction, seed farms and cocoon-market incentives. Under the Central Silk Board plan scheme, raising a mulberry plantation is costed at ₹14,000/acre with 50% subsidy from Government of India (CSB) and the remaining 50% shared equally by the State and the beneficiary (25:25). Under RKVY, components such as rearing houses are sanctioned on a 50:50 (Govt : Beneficiary) pattern. Telangana is the first state to converge tasar/mulberry rearing with MGNREGS — ₹1.25 lakh for mulberry bush plantation over 3 years (₹53,000 year-1, ₹36,000 years 2 and 3). Beneficiaries must continue sericulture for a minimum of 3 years after availing subsidy.
