Skill-training and placement programme of the Ministry of Rural Development under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (launched 25 September 2014) to transform rural poor youth into an economically independent, globally relevant workforce. It provides free, NSQF-aligned, industry-relevant skill training to rural poor youth aged 15-35 years (upper age limit 45 years for women and special groups such as PVTGs, persons with disabilities, transgender persons and other vulnerable groups). DDU-GKY carries a placement mandate — at least 70% of trained candidates must be placed in jobs paying at least ₹6,000 per month (or the applicable minimum wage). The scheme is fully funded by the Central and State Governments and covers training, boarding, lodging, transportation and post-placement support, with defined social-inclusion targets (SC 19%, ST 3%, Minorities 10%, Women 33%, PwD 5%). Candidates apply through the Kaushal Panjee registration platform.
